Frequently asked questions
Here are some of the questions that I am most commonly asked. I understand that starting Therapy can bring up a lot of questions, and I want to make the process as easy and transparent as possible. If you have any further questions that are not answered here, please don't hesitate to contact me.
What Happens during a session?
Each session starts with a simple conversation about what’s been going on and what you’d like to work towards. We move at your pace — nothing is rushed or pressured.
I may also guide you through a short relaxation or meditation exercise to help calm your mind and body.
Is Hypnosis dangerous?
All hypnosis is self hypnosis and there are no side effects, no Jedi-mind tricks, it's perfectly safe and very effective. Please read my Blog for a full explanation.
Do I need any experience with meditation or therapy?
Not at all. Everything we do is guided and adapted to suit you. You don’t need to know any techniques beforehand — I’ll talk you through each step so you feel comfortable and supported.
How is Your therapy different from cbt & traditional counselling?
- Solution-Focused Hypnosis (SFH): This is like a fast-forward button for your future. Instead of dwelling on past problems, we focus on what you want your life to look like and use gentle hypnosis to help your mind imagine and move towards that positive future. It's all about building on your strengths and finding quick solutions.
- CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy): This is like being a detective for your thoughts. We look at how your thoughts, feelings, and actions are connected right now. If you have unhelpful thoughts that are making you feel bad or act in ways you don't like, we work together to challenge those thoughts and learn new, healthier ways to think and behave. It's very practical and often involves "homework" to practice new skills.
- Counselling (Traditional): This is like having a supportive guide to explore your whole story. It's a broader term and can involve talking about your past, present, and future. The goal is often to understand yourself better, process emotions, and find clarity. It's less about specific techniques and more about having a safe space to talk through things and gain insight, with the approach varying a lot depending on the counsellor.
Is this confidential?
Yes. Everything we discuss is private and confidential. I only share information if there’s a serious risk of harm to you or someone else — which I’d always discuss with you first.
How many sessions will I need?
That depends on what you’d like help with. Some people notice a difference after a few sessions, while others prefer ongoing support. We’ll review how you’re getting on regularly so it always feels right for you.
Do you offer online sessions?
I believe the best results come from meeting in person — real connection, face-to-face, in a calm and private setting.
For that reason, I only offer sessions at my therapy room in Merseyside.
However, if you’re an existing client and find yourself struggling between sessions, you can reach me on WhatsApp or by phone for a brief check-in. It’s not a replacement for a full session, but sometimes a few minutes of support can make a real difference.
What issues can you help with?
I support people dealing with:
* Anxiety and overthinking
* Stress or burnout
* Low confidence or self-esteem
* Life changes and uncertainty
* Emotional overwhelm
If you’re unsure whether my approach is right for you, we can have a short chat first — no pressure to book.
