My story

I’m Carl, founder of Help4Minds in Merseyside — a place where people can talk openly, breathe a little easier, and begin to find their calm again.

My path to helping others hasn’t been straightforward. After leaving the Navy in the 1990s, I struggled to adjust to civilian life. I went from job to job, feeling restless and disconnected. Like many people, I tried to cope by keeping busy — and at times, by drinking too much. It took years to realise that what I really needed wasn’t escape, but understanding.

That realisation started my journey into personal change and emotional wellbeing. I began studying the mind, human behaviour, and how stress and anxiety affect us all. Through this, I discovered how powerful simple things — like talking, mindfulness, and structured support — can be in helping people find balance again.

Over the past five years, I’ve worked with many clients who’ve felt lost, anxious, or stuck in their own heads. Using counselling-style support, guided meditation, and EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique), I help people calm the noise, untangle their thoughts, and build resilience for the future.

I’m currently continuing my professional development, and I draw on my background in Solution-Focused Hypnotherapy — an approach that looks forward rather than back, focusing on practical change instead of dwelling on problems.

I believe in keeping things simple, respectful, and human. Every person’s story is different, but everyone deserves to be listened to, understood, and supported in a way that feels real and achievable.

If you’re struggling with anxiety, stress, or uncertainty, I won’t tell you what to do — I’ll help you find your own next step, one conversation at a time.

How I Work

Every session is personal to you — there’s no script or “one method fits all.”

I offer a calm, confidential space where you can talk freely, reflect, and explore what’s really happening underneath the surface.

In our sessions we might:

* Use counselling to talk through patterns, feelings, and challenges

* Practise short guided meditations-Trance- to calm the body and quiet the mind

* Try gentle EFT tapping if it helps you release built-up tension

You’ll also learn simple mindfulness tools you can use at home to manage anxious thoughts, sleep better, and handle stress when it appears.

My role isn’t to diagnose or “fix” you — it’s to help you reconnect with your own ability to find balance and direction.

What You Can Expect

* Warm, down-to-earth support — no jargon, no judgement

* Space to talk openly at your own pace

* Tools that fit real life, not theory

* Respect for your story, your privacy, and your pace
