My Journey: From Struggles to Helping Others

After leaving the Navy in the 90s, I found myself struggling with the transition to civilian life. I went from job to job, trying to find my place, but it was a challenging time. Alongside this, I faced significant battles with my mental health and, later, developed issues with heavy drinking and frequent binges. These difficulties consumed much of my energy and focus, leaving me feeling lost and unsure of my future.

However, I knew that I wanted more for myself and those around me. Determined to turn my life around, I made the decision to retrain as a hypnotherapist and counsellor. This path not only gave me the tools to help others but also became a deeply healing journey for me personally. With a strong interest in understanding the human mind, I delved into the study of psychology, gaining invaluable knowledge and insights into behaviour, mental health, and emotional well-being.

Today, I use my experiences and professional training to guide others on their own paths to healing and self-discovery. I'm grateful for the journey that led me here, and I'm passionate about helping others create positive change in their lives.

My approach

At Help4Minds, every session is tailored to you as an individual. My counselling style aims to guide you from the emotionally-driven, reactive part of your brain – the source of addiction and anxiety – back to the rational, intelligent mind which enables self-control and fosters genuine recovery. I use a combination of talk therapy,  guided meditation, and Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) to achieve this. Additionally, I place a strong emphasis on building resilience and empowering you with practical tools to handle life's challenges. By incorporating mindfulness exercises and cognitive-behavioral strategies, I help you develop a deeper understanding of your thought patterns and emotional triggers. This approach not only supports immediate healing but also equips you to navigate future difficulties with confidence and clarity.
